Mufti of Chechnya urges to limit visits to mosques
It is undesirable for residents of Chechnya over 65 years old to come to mosques for collective Friday namaz (prayer) due to the threat of coronavirus spread, the republic's Mufti, Salakh Mezhiev, has declared.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 2, Magomed Daudov, the Speaker of the Chechen Parliament, criticized local residents for neglecting the coronavirus preventive measures and announced the introduction of fines for non-observance of the restrictions.
The head of the regional Muftiate has also noted that he had repeatedly called on believers to comply with the rules for the prevention of coronavirus, including those regarding wedding and funeral ceremonies.
Let us remind you that on November 30, Chechnya entered the list of Russian regions with the worst dynamics of coronavirus spread.
Earlier, analysts expressed the opinion that residents of Chechnya are ignoring the preventive measures, since they follow the example of officials who would not wear medical masks.
