"MK": Magomed Vakhaev will become president of Chechnya
On Saturday, January 20, the Kremlin held discussions of the candidature of a president of Chechnya, who will soon replace Alu Alkhanov. According to the information of the "Moskovskiy Komsomolets" ("MK") newspaper, Magomed Vakhaev, the present Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Chechen Republic, is planned as the would-be president.
On the eve of that day, on January 19, Magomed Vakhaev convoked his subordinates and declared that was going to Moscow for an important conversation on the topic of his appointment of the head of the Republic.
It has become known that in parallel to Mr. Vakhaev's appointment other reshufflings are expected. Ruslan Alkhanov will retire from the post of the Minister of Internal Affairs, and it will be taken by Sulkho Demilkhanov, direct brother of the present vice-premier Adam Demilkhanov who took an active part in liquidation of Movladi Baisarov. According to information of the "MK," Adam personally shot him dead.
The Kremlin has chosen Vakhaev as a measure not to admit any possible destabilization of the situation in the power circles of Chechnya, where, as some people affirm, there is an explosion-prone conflict today.
