Within the week, four persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week from December 28, 2020, to January 3, 2021, four persons fell victim to the ongoing armed conflict in Northern Caucasus: three were killed and one was wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The death toll includes two alleged members of the armed underground and one law enforcer, all in Chechnya.

Attacks on law enforcers

On December 28, in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, two men armed with knives attacked the police inspectors of the patrol-and-post service (PPS) and tried to capture their service firearms. One policeman was killed and the other one was wounded. The attackers were killed by the policemen's return fire. The attack was carried out by two natives of Ingushetia, Khasan and Khusein Temurziev, who had lived in Chechnya since 2012 and worked in a bakery. On December 30, it became known that Chechen law enforcers detained and took away to some unknown place at least three relatives of the Temurziev brothers. The "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
