Parents of beaten Nalchik residents report circumstances of their release
Nalchik residents Alexander Knyazev and Valery Levdik left a police station with clear signs of beating on their bodies, parents of the victims claim in court. Both young men told their relatives that they had to incriminate themselves by signing a confession to theft.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in November 2020, Alexander Knyazev and Valery Levdik complained about an attempt to delay a case on abuse of power by three policemen. The investigation into the case has been ongoing since February 2017. According to investigators', in the autumn of 2016, the policemen beat two men detained in a case on theft. After the beating, Alexander Knyazev and Valery Levdik signed confessions, a criminal case was opened against them, and each of them got a suspended sentence.
Svetlana Mashukova, a mother of Alexander Knyazev, reported that, according to her son's story, he signed some documents, being under pressure at the police station. The young man also said that he saw the people who beat him and could identify them, the witness added.
