Azerbaijani authorities lost another suit at the European Court
The European Court for Human Rights has informed about satisfaction of another suit against the authorities of Azerbaijan, filed by Nabat Ramazanova and others. The Court has confirmed the violation of the claimants' rights by Azerbaijani authorities. The correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" was informed by representatives of the claimants about the fact. We note here that the Association "Homeless and Rightless Baku Residents" was founded in 2001, but could not get registered for a long time, and then its founders applied to the European Court. After the European Court's address to the official Baku, the Association was registered in 2005. However, the Yasamalskiy Court rejected the founders' claim on collecting 25 million mantas (USD 26 million) from the Ministry of Justice for the moral damage.
Despite the demands of the Ministry of Justice to abandon the action, the applicants would not agree and insisted on bringing all the judges who had passed unfair decision in the registration case to responsibility.
Having considered the applicants' complaint on January 11, the European Court satisfied the suit and ruled to pay 4000 euros to the applicants for moral damage and 2000 euros to cover the judicial expenses.
