PACE is going to consider the situation in Chechnya
On Tuesday, the Political Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will consider the situation in Chechnya at its session in Paris. It is planned that European Parliamentarians will make a decision to prepare a separate report on this topic and appoint a rapporteur, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
During the session, the Political Commission will hear the report on the voyage of PACE Deputies to Chechnya in autumn of 2006 and hold a sitting of the sub-commission on holding the second round of the PACE roundtable on Chechnya.
The "Caucasian Knot" has informed earlier that during the PACE session in Strasbourg, a populous meeting will be held, to which the Association "World and Human Rights" invites students, teachers, Chechen refugees and refugees from other countries, "everyone who values the fundamental principles of international law" to come to render support to Chechnya.
In the opinion of human rights defenders, tortures, kidnappings, murders and various other infringements of human rights continue in Chechnya.
