Georgia has presented in Geneva a package of proposals on settling conflict with Abkhazia
According to the information of the press centre of the Ministry for Settling Conflicts in Georgia, in the course of the meeting in Geneva on February 12-13 of representatives of the Group of Countries-Friends of the UN Secretary General of the United Nations with participation of the Georgian and Abkhazian parties, the Georgian delegation presented a package of proposals on formation of safety mechanisms for restoration of peace and security in the conflict zone.
The correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" has informed that during the meeting a special emphasise was made on the necessity to ensure the safety of the population of the Galskiy District and to defend their rights.
In the opinion of the Georgian party, of special value for achieving this aim would be an opening in Gali of the human rights office and deployment of international policemen in the region.
The Georgian delegation has expressed its readiness to continue a full support of economic rehabilitation programs, and also addressed the authorities of Abkhazia to deepen cooperation and not to create any threats to the continuity of the process of peace talks.
