Armenian President agrees to meet opposition

The opposition marched from the building of the Armenian parliament to the residences of the President and Prime Minister. President Armen Sargsyan agreed to meet opposition representatives to discuss ways out of the political crisis in the country.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 25, the General Headquarters of the Armenia's Armed Forces demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Residents of Yerevan took to the streets in protest and blocked roads. Activists set up tents and spent the night in front of the parliament. Today, the opposition is holding a rally with the demand of the resignation of the Prime Minister and the government, and the parliament is cordoned off. An attempt by the opposition to convene a session of the parliament to discuss a way out of the crisis was disrupted by a boycott of MPs from the ruling "My Step" Party.

Gegam Manukyan, the spokesman of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" Party, accused Nikol Pashinyan of threatening Onik Gasparyan, the chief of the General Headquarters of the Armenia's Armed Forces, whom the Prime Minister planned to arrest, and President Armen Sargsyan, from whom Nikol Pashinyan demanded to sign a proposal to dismiss Onik Gasparyan.
