Kremlin refuses commenting media reports on Kadyrov's incomes
The Kremlin has more reliable data about the incomes of the heads of the regions than journalists; therefore, publications about Ramzan Kadyrov's and his entourage's property give no grounds for additional checks. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, Vladimir Putin.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Kadyrov topped the rating of long-lived governors – his 14-year-long presence as the head of Chechnya is the longest among leaders of Russian regions.
On April 7, the edition named "Project" published an inquiry into the real estate of Kadyrov's wife and beauty contest finalist Fatima Khazueva, who is favoured by the head of Chechnya. Khazueva owns a luxurious mansion in Grozny; she, along with Ramzan's wife, owns apartments in elite residential complexes in Moscow.
Journalists repeatedly asked Peskov questions about Kadyrov's activities. They came to the conclusion that Putin's press secretary is inclined to avoid answering questions about the head of Chechnya and is "very careful" in his comments about him.
In his turn, Kadyrov repeatedly entered into public polemics with Peskov. The last such dispute happened in March, when Peskov was asked questions in connection with the publication of the "Novaya Gazeta" newspaper about extrajudicial executions in Chechnya. None of the Russian governors allow themselves to make statements that Kadyrov makes, analysts have noted.
