Volgograd court upholds fine imposed on Navalny's supporter

The Volgograd Regional Court has refused to satisfy the complaint lodged by the activist, Timofei Andronov, who asked to cancel his fine of 20,000 roubles imposed for his participation in the action in support of Alexei Navalny on April 21, 2021.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 21, Timofei Andronov was detained at a protest action.

On June 10, the Volgograd Regional Court upheld the fine imposed on Andronov for participating in the action, Timofei himself told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"On April 22, I was tried by the first-instance court, but I was not present at the action; however I was fined by 20,000 roubles ... The court argued that I had been detained not for the first time, although this was the first trial in my life," he has explained.

According to Timofei Andronov, on June 10, his mother appeared at trial as a witness. "I was standing in the square, talking to someone, when people in civilian clothes lifted me into the air and tore my whole jacket. They carried me either head up or head down. I was pushed into the car of the patrol-and-post service (PPS). My mother ran up to the car, but policemen did not let her to the car. Two other policemen were in the car. They could not squeeze my legs [into the car]. It took about two minutes, after which they began to strangle me," the activist has stated.

Then, as Andronov recollected, he was taken to a police station. "I asked to invite a lawyer and make a telephone call – they didn't allow me. I sat in the police station for almost three hours," he said.

At the trial, Andronov stated that he had been detained with the use of brutal force. According to his story, he is drafting an appeal to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).
