Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of a shelling attack on border

Armenian soldiers opened fire from small arms at positions in the Kelbadjar District, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reported.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the conflict on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border has been ongoing since mid-May. So, on June 10, the Ministries of Defence of Armenia and Azerbaijan exchanged accusations of shelling attacks. According to the Armenian side, the reason for the opening of fire was an attempt to stop the engineering works carried out by the Azerbaijani military personnel at the border section in the Gegarkunik Region.

Today, starting from 1:45 p.m., positions of the Azerbaijani army in the direction of the Kelbadjar District have been regularly shelled from small arms, the Azerbaijani MoD reported. According to the Azerbaijani military officials, the fire came from the positions of the Armenian armed forces in the village of Yukhary Shordja in the Vardenis District. The Azerbaijani side has not suffered casualties, and the situation on the border has stabilized, the MoD of Azerbaijan emphasizes on its official website.
