Witnesses testify in favour of Ingush protest leaders

Akhmed Barakhoev and Barakh Chemurziev did not call for violence at the rally in Magas and tried to calm the protesters down, Kureish Sapraliev, the head of the Public Security Department of the Ingush Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the case of seven Ingush protest leaders, accused of creating an extremist community, has been considered since November 24, 2020. The video records of the protest rally in Magas watched during the trial contain no proofs that the defendants called for illegal actions or participated in the riots themselves, Djabrail Kuriev, one of the advocates, has stated.

For the first time at the trial, clergymen were interrogated – seven rural Imams, said Magomed Kuriev, another advocate. "The clergymen said that they knew nothing about any facts of the defendants using violence against law enforcers during the clash of them with the protesters," the advocate has stated.

The issues of medical examination and treatment of Zarifa Sautieva, Malsag Uzhakhov and Akhmed Barakhoev have not been resolved, Magomed Kuriev has noted. Apart from her chronic diseases, Sautieva suffers from sharply aggravated pain in her back bone, her sister has informed.
