Navalny's supporter in Astrakhan complains about law enforcers' pressure

Elena Baibekova, an Astrakhan resident, fined for taking part in a march in support of the opposition leader, Alexei Navalny, said that shortly before the trial she was summoned to the Centre for Combating Extremism (CCE). Persecutions of Navalny's supporters indicate a new wave of repressions, said a member of the "Parnas" Party.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the court had fined Baibekova by 10,000 roubles for participating in the January 23 rally in support of Navalny.

On June 4, in Astrakhan, Baibekova went out to a solo picket demanding to release Alexei Navalny; her picket was timed to Alexei's birthday. She explained that she was also motivated to go to the picket by the detention of local activist, Sergey Scherbakov at a similar action.

According to Elena, no one could confirm the offense for which the court had fined her.

On January 23, Alexei Navalny's supporters in different regions of Russia held actions in his support. The march in Astrakhan met no law enforcers' counteraction. The action gathered, according to several protesters, over a thousand marchers.
