Residents of Chechnya complain about risk of losing jobs due to refusal to get vaccinated

Threats of dismissal and enterprise closures are used in Chechnya to force workers to get vaccinated. Without vaccination certificates, it became difficult for republic residents to make shopping or visit a cafe, residents of Chechnya have complained.

On June 16, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, threatened to impose severe coronavirus restrictions due to the low vaccination rates against COVID-19 in the republic. The statement was made amid complaints about mandatory vaccinations.

Authorities are creating conditions under which people are forced to get vaccinated, the residents of Chechnya interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent assert.

A resident of Grozny named Musa was not going to get vaccinated. "But in every store they put up announcements that without a vaccination certificate, customers will not be served," he has noted.

According to Zarema, her granddaughter-student was told at the dean's office that she would not attend classes until she presented her vaccination certificate.

A beauty salon employees were demanded to get vaccinated, threatening to close the facility, said one of the employees.

Zelimkhan, an entrepreneur, has already got vaccinated, as he intended to make a business trip abroad. "During the pandemic, I lost my best friend. I think people should get vaccinated. But in order to prove in Chechnya that the vaccine does not cause destructive changes in one's organism, it is necessary that members of the government and their relatives get vaccinated in public," he has suggested.
