In Tbilisi, at least five journalists and cameramen were injured during attacks of activists protesting against the gay pride parade.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the LGBT community is holding the LGBT Week in Tbilisi from July 1 to 5, which is planned to end with the “March of Dignity” in the city centre.

Today, several hundred opponents of the gay pride parade have blocked Rustaveli Avenue and attacked journalists who were covering the protest action.

The protesters were throwing bottles and sticks at the journalists and deliberately attacking the media representatives, the Georgian “First Channel” TV Channel reports today.

Five journalists and cameramen were injured during the attacks of the protesters, the "Mtavari Arkhi" TV Company reported, which live broadcast was watched by the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

“Several journalists were injured, and a camera was broken. They were spitting at us, insulting us verbally, and attacking physically journalists and cameramen,” Salome Bokuchava, a correspondent of the “Rustavi-2” TV Channel, said live.

Roma Tarugishvili, a camera man of the “Palitranews” TV Company, was taken by an ambulance to the New Hospital, and doctors diagnosed him with injuries in the area of his face, including a broken nose, the “InterPressNews” reports.
