Speaker of Chechnya's parliament: PACE commissions have annoyed us to death
The leadership of Chechnya has categorically disapproved the initiative of the European Parliament to send a commission to the Chechen Republic for studying the situation in the region. This was declared by Dukvakha Abdurakhmanov, Speaker of the National Assembly of Chechnya.
"It's high time for European politicians to close the Chechen topic, moreover, the today's situation in our Republic allows doing it with no doubts. We are sick and tired of endless PACE's commissions with their strive to seek non-existent things in Chechnya," the RIA "Novosti" quotes the Speaker of the National Assembly of Chechnya.
"We'll be happy to see representatives of the European Parliament at roundtables in Chechnya, or just as our guests, but there is no need to send commissions here," Mr. Abdurakhmanov has added.
Then, the Speaker of the Chechen Parliament has noted: "If Europe is so much worried of the fate of Chechens, it should be pleased with our today's achievements and support the people, instead of searching negative points."
The European politicians should better view the events through the prism of what happens in Yugoslavia and Iraq, where the situation is a consequence of support of the member-countries of the European Parliament, asserts Abdurakhmanov.
