Human rights defenders ask Bush to explain his meeting with the general accused of tortures in Chechnya
Today, the leading Russian human rights organizations have demanded from US president George Bush to give explanations concerning his meeting in the White House with the general accused by the public of mass violations of human rights in Chechnya.
This is the topic of "The Open Letter of Russian Human Rights Organizations to the President of the United States of America" delivered to the US Embassy in Moscow.
We remind you that US president's meeting with Vladimir Shamanov, adviser of the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, took place in the Oval Hall late in March and provoked a scandal in Washington.
