Head of Dagestan asks media to resist Wahhabism

Today, on April 11, a session of Dagestan Antiterrorist Commission has discussed the role of mass media in ideological counteracting terrorism.

Speaking at the session, Dagestan President Mukhu Aliev expressed a wish to mass media to publish more antiterrorist and anti-Wahhabist articles.

Ahmed Tagaev, a representative of the Spiritual Department of Dagestan Moslems (SDDM), who also spoke to the session, expressed an opinion that Dagestan TV and local mass media are giving insufficient attention to propaganda of traditional Islam.

In particular, Mr. Tagaev mentioned the film shot with support of the SDDM "Ordinary Wahhabism," which was broadcast by one of Dagestan cable TV Channels but never appeared in the state-run ones.
