Village shelled in the Galskiy District of Abkhazia
On April 12, the village named Vtoroe Otobaya, Galskiy District, Abkhazia, was attacked by fire. Local residents confirmed the fact of shelling. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent learnt about it from Ruslan Kishmariya, Plenipotentiary Envoy of Abkhazian President to the Galskiy District.
On April 12, Vtoroe Otobaya village was bombarded by grenade launchers from the territory of the adjacent Zugdidi District of Georgia.
According to Envoy Kishmariya, nobody had suffered, since the grenades hit the marshland.
"A total of about 15 grenades were launched. The range of this weapon is 1700 metres, and since not all the shells reached the village, it means that the shooting was made from the depth of the territory of the Zugdidi District of Georgia," he explained.
On April 13, the village was visited by representatives of power agencies of Abkhazia and specialists from the CIS Collective Peacekeeping Forces and UN Mission of Military Observers.
