Residents of Kabardino-Balkaria, tortured by militia, appeal against verdict
Mr. Bulatov and Mr. Dambegov, residents of Kabardino-Balkaria, who were tortured at the so-called "T-Centre," have appealed against their District Court's verdict. The persons from among the Centre's employees who tortured them have not been established yet, although the Public Prosecutor's Office had promises to find them.
According to information obtained from lawyer Dalkhat Doduev, member of the Kabardino-Balkarian Bar Association, the verdict of the Prokhladnenskiy District Court in relation to R. Bulatov and M. Dambegov was appealed against by him to the cassation instance of the Supreme Court of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR).
The "Caucasian Knot" informed earlier that the District Court had found Bulatov and Dambegov guilty of illegal possession of weapons and sentenced the former to 1.5 years of deprivation of freedom at a strict custody colony, and the latter - to 10 months of imprisonment. At the court session, Bulatov and Dambegov categorically rejected the charges and asserted that the grenade and self-made pistol had been planted on them by employees of the "T-Centre" themselves.
Earlier, the Office of Public Prosecutor of the city Nalchik had excited a criminal case on abusing official powers with encroachment on personal immunity on the fact of torturing detainees Bulatov and Dambegov, in particular, with an electric shocker.
