Policeman convicted of beating KChR resident

A former district policeman of the Prikubansky ROVD (District Interior Division) of the Branch for the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has been sentenced to four year of conditional imprisonment for beating up a local resident.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 16, 2021, the regional Investigating Committee informed about the beating of a villager in the Prikubansky District by a district policeman. The victim had multiple bodily injuries, qualified as moderate gravity harm to his health, the investigators have explained.

The court has found that in the evening on March 6, the convict was drunk while at his service, and, having met a local resident in the settlement of Udarny, brought him to the police stronghold, demanding that he pay his debt on administrative fines. There, the district policeman beat him up, "despite the fact that victim's actions entailed no danger." "The policeman inflicted multiple bodily injuries to the man, which were qualifying as a moderate harm to his health," the Investigating Department for the KChR of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has reported.

At the stage of the preliminary investigation, the policeman fully admitted his guilt. The court found him guilty under point "a", Part 3, Article 286 of the Russian Criminal Code (the commission by an official of actions clearly beyond his powers ... with the use of violence) and imposed a sentence of four years' conditional imprisonment, says the message posted on November 12 on the ICRF's website.
