Azerbaijan reports three wounded servicemen near Shusha

As a result of a grenade explosion near Shusha (the Armenian name is Shushi), Khafiz Nasibov, an additional service sergeant of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, and two other military servicemen were wounded, the Azerbaijani General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have reported, treating the incident as a terror act.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this morning the Nagorno-Karabakh MIA has informed about the closure of traffic on the Stepanakert-Berdzor highway due to an incident involving the Armenian and Azerbaijani parties. According to sources, a local resident threw a grenade at Azerbaijani militaries near Shusha, after which they opened fire in response. Peacemakers detained the Nagorno-Karabakh resident who had thrown the grenade, sources have reported.

The Azerbaijani GPO and the MIA have treated the armed incident near Shusha as a terror act. "As a result of the attack, undertaken with the aim to kill motivated by the ethnic hatred, Khafiz Nasibov, an additional service sergeant of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and two soldiers received wounds," says the joint statement of the Azerbaijani MIA and the GPO, which was translated by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

A source from Azerbaijani law enforcement bodies has treated the version of the Armenian party that the man who threw a grenade at Azerbaijani militaries was a brother of the man killed on November 8 during repair work as untenable. "Not only do they have different surnames, but there is also a big age difference. Besides, judging by the photographs that got into the media, [the grenade thrower] was a well-trained military man, and this is by no means the revenge of a loner, but a pre-planned terror act," the source has stated.

On November 8, at the crossroads near Shushi, Azerbaijani militaries shelled the workers who were repairing the water supply system; one of them died in hospital, and three others were hospitalized with wounds.
