Saakashvili's supporters criticize Georgian Patriarch and president
In Tbilisi, Saakashvili's supporters have held a protest action despite the police warnings. According to organizers, the action was over 5000 strong. They criticized the Patriarch and president of Georgia, who, in their opinion, disregard the situation with the disgraced former president.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Saakashvili's supporters are holding everyday actions demanding to transfer him into a civilian clinic.
On November 13, Saakashvili's personal doctor said that on the 44th day of his hunger strike, the politician was so weak that he could not get out of bed.
On November 15, the main highway was blocked by a large rally in support of Saakashvili.
According to Zaal Udumashvili, an MP, people "are fighting for their freedom, for the right to vote, which was stolen from them at the elections."
Irakli Abesadze, a member of the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party, has stated that the protesters act in accordance with the Constitution and have the right to peaceful protest.
"He (the Patriarch) never dared to ask the president or the prime minister to pardon Saakashvili. He behaves not like a full-fledged Patriarch of Georgia, but like an envoy of the Russian Patriarch in the occupied territory," Eka Lungviani has stated.
