Actions in support of Ukraine in Georgian cities end in detentions

Actions again were held in cities of Georgia; their participants expressed support for Ukraine and criticized Georgian authorities for refusing to join the sanctions against Russia. In Kutaisi, one of the protesters broke a Mayoralty's window with a stone and was detained; in Batumi, a clash broke out between protesters and the police; and four people were detained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that rallies in support of Ukraine are held in Georgia every day; the participants thereof also demand the resignation of the Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili, for his refusal to support sanctions against Russia.

On March 1, a rally in support of Ukraine was held in Tbilisi. At a rally held in front of the parliament, Elene Khoshtariya, the leader of the "Droa" Party, put forward three demands: the resignation of the government; the closure of the sky for Russian aircrafts; and submitting an application for Georgia's membership in the European Union.

In Kutaisi, at a rally, a young man smashed a Mayoralty's windows with a stone as a sign of protest. He was detained; and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported that they are clarifying the details of the incident.

The action was also held near the government house in Batumi. Here, protesters clashed with policemen; at least four people were arrested. Their names are given: Irakli Kupradze, Bondo Tedoradze, Levan Gorgiladze and Bachuki Chkheidze.
