Chechnya's authorities want to return home the refugees remaining in Georgia
Currently, Georgia hosts a joint working group of the Chechen government and the FMS (Federal Migration Service) of Russia involved in resolving the problems related to homecoming of forced migrants from the Chechen Republic who had left their homes with the start of the "counterterrorist operation."
"The mission of the interdepartmental working group, consisting of representatives of the Chechen government and FMS of Russia, assumes resolution of the problems related to return home of the forced migrants who now live in the Pankisi Gorge of Georgia. The members of the working group will face the problems of 89 forced migrants who have recently lodged the respective applications to the Russian Embassy asking to help them in getting back home," an employee of the FMS Department for Chechnya has explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to his information, this group of forced migrants is planned to be returned to Chechnya in the first half of June.
