Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of border provocation
A group of Armenian militaries tried to penetrate the territory of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani State Frontier Service (SFS) has claimed. The Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has refuted this statement.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 6, a meeting of the Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliev, with the Armenian Premier, Nikol Pashinyan, took place in Brussels. As a result of the talks, both parties agreed to set up, by the end of April, a bilateral commission for delimiting the mutual borders, and to start drafting a peace agreement.
On April 24, the Azerbaijani SFS reported about an attempt by Armenian militaries to cross the border section in the Zangilan District. "The penetration of the sabotage group into the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan was prevented," the SFS has informed in its statement.
Border guards have treated the incident as a provocation against "setting up a bilateral commission on border delimitation and carrying out the relevant works."
The Armenian MoD has refuted the Azerbaijan's statement about the border provocation. "The statement of the Azerbaijani SFS [...] has nothing to do with reality," the "News.am" has quoted the Armenian MoD as stating.
