Stavropol activist Ronald Airapetyan granted asylum in the Netherlands

The Netherlands granted political asylum to Stavropol activist Ronald Airapetyan, who reported being persecuted for his opposition activities in Russia.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Ronald Airapetyan, a member of the “Yabloko” Party, said that he left his native city of Kislovodsk for the Krasnodar Territory after an attack on him in September 2020. An attacker said that if Ronald Airapetyan would be killed if he “once again went to a picket against Putin.” In December 2021, Ronald Airapetyan reported that he left for the Netherlands because of a kidnapping and threats for his opposition activities.

Ronald Airapetyan has been granted political asylum in the Netherlands. The decision of the migration service is dated April 20, the activist himself told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent. “The relevant documents were sent by the migration and naturalization service IND (Immigration and Naturalization Service),” Ronald Airapetyan reported.
