Thirty-five protesters detained in Yerevan

Four marches demanding the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has taken place in Yerevan today. The police reported about the detention of 35 protesters.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since April 25, the Armenian opposition has been holding rallies, marches and motor rallies, demanding not to admit a change of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh and resignation of Nikol Pashinyan's government.

Today, during a march from the administrative district of Nor Nork, clashes broke out between the police and the protesters. The police detained 35 people. The detentions also took place near the Yerevan Lake, when the activists blocked the road.

When participants of another march, on Sebastia Street, learned that the police were detaining activists in Nor Nork, they blocked the street. The activists sat on the asphalt and blocked the traffic. Some time later, the police unblocked the road, and no detentions took place, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent reported with reference to livestream of the “Factor.tv”.

As of 2:00 p.m. local time, 35 protesters were taken to police stations, being detained for failure to obey lawful requests of the police, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent was informed by Zarzand Gabrielyan, the chief of the Media Relations Department of the Armenian police.
