Abkhaz authorities ban youth project on intercultural dialogue with Georgia
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Abkhazia has banned the project of the NGO "Movement against Hunger" on intercultural dialogue of young people of Abkhazia with their peers in Georgia, claiming that with the help thereof Georgia is promoting its political goals.
According to the Abkhaz MFA, the project of the international NGO "Movement against Hunger", which provides for the involvement of youth from Abkhazia and Georgia in intercultural dialogue, was stopped after the MFA and the State Security Service (SSS) of Abkhazia revealed a discrepancy of the data given in the project with the activities carried out therein.
"The project questionnaire gave incomplete information, which is a violation of the rules for submitting questionnaires for approval of projects/programmes," the TASS quoted on May 13 a source from the press service of the Abkhaz MFA.
The MFA has stressed that it treats it as a concealment of reliable data. "The MFA will continue suppressing attempts to implement projects aimed at promoting the Georgian government's policy towards Abkhazia, as reflected in Georgian strategic documents and development programmes," the source has stated.
