Makhachkala picketer demands to release journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev

At his solo picket held in Makhachkala, Magomed Magomedov, a Dagestan journalist, demanded to release Abdulmumin Gadjiev and stop his criminal prosecution. Most residents of Dagestan are aware of Gadjiev's prosecution and continue to be interested in his fate, Idris Yusupov, a journalist, has pointed out.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 9, in Makhachkala, law enforcers disrupted a picket held by one of Gadjiev's colleagues. Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the "Chernovik" (Draft) portal, had to interrupt his picket at law enforcer's request and follow him to the police station.

Colleagues of the arrested "Chernovik" journalist Gadjiev are regularly holding pickets in Makhachkala in his support; Abdulmumin Gadjiev is accused of financing terrorism.

According to Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik", on May 16, he stood in the street for an hour demanding freedom for Gadjiev.

A policeman who came up to the picketer took an explanation, Magomedov said.

People retain an increased interest in the development of events around Gadjiev's case, Idris Yusupov, a journalist, believes.

Quite many residents of Dagestan are aware of Gadjiev's prosecution and continue being interested in his fate both in social networks and in real life during the pickets that are held every Monday, Mr Yusupov has stated.
