PACE holds up Azerbaijan as a model of tolerance to Jews
According to the APA Agency information, deputy Samed Seidov, head of Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe), declared that today at the debates in PACE's Democratic Group on the topic of anti-Semitism, Azerbaijan was mentioned as a good example of tolerance in relation to Jews.
Moreover, the Day.Az reports that the deputy has informed, that studying of Azerbaijan's experience in the issue of tolerance was entered into the PACE's agenda.
"I was approached with a request to make a detailed presentation on the topic to the PACE session. Jews have been living in Azerbaijan from antiquity and have become one of respected communities of our country. Today there is a representative of the Jewish community in the Parliament of Azerbaijan," S. Seidov has emphasized.
Azerbaijani human rights activists intend the raise the problem of pressure on mass media in Azerbaijan at meetings with European Deputies. Besides, the issues will be raised of political prisoners, violations at elections, breaching of journalists' rights and freedoms, etc.
