Police disrupts Islamists' conference in Azerbaijan
Yesterday, on June 27, the police disrupted the conference to be held by the Gyandzha Branch of the Islamic Party.
Policemen came to the venue of the conference and detained several activists. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it by Gurban Dzhabrailoglu, head of the Party's press service.
According to his story, five leaders of the Party, including Chairman Gadzhiag Nuri, and four more persons were kept by the police for five hours. Nineteen other participants of the conference spent the night at the police station. Sixteen of them were fined, and three leaders of the Gyandzha Branch of the Islamic Party were arrested for three days.
The activists of the Party have informed that they had notified the executive authorities of Gyandzha about the conference well in advance. In connection with the incident, the Islamic Party is going to sue the Gyandzha authorities.
