Four persons injured during protests in Yerevan

Mass detentions of opposition supporters took place in Yerevan. Four protestors injured near the government building, including two law enforcers, were hospitalized.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on May 30, supporters of the opposition have marched to public institutions in Yerevan. The purpose of the protest action has been to find out the position of the public institutions regarding the opposition’s statement on the future of Nagorno-Karabakh, which is included in the agenda of the parliament. A clash between the protestors and the police occurred near the government buildings.

The protestors tried to break into the main government building, but they were stopped by the law enforcers. According to the police, five persons have been detained on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

Four persons were injured in the clashes, reports on Facebook* Shushan Danielyan, the head of the Yerevan State Medical University’s administration.

* On March 21, the Tverskoi Court of Moscow banned the activities in Russia of the Meta Company, owning Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, in connection with extremist activities.
