Tbilisi rally supports Georgia's accession to the EU
On June 5, in Tbilisi, in Republic Square, an action was held under the motto "Together to Europe". The aim of the rally was to confirm the irreversible desire of the Georgian society for the European Union (EU), the organizers of the rally have explained.
The rally was organized by ordinary citizens, but politicians, NGO activists and public figures from various spheres joined it, the "InterPressNews" has informed.
The rally was also attended by members of oppositional parties. The participants of the rally unfolded flags of Georgia and the EU; later they left symbolic signatures on the EU flag, which will then be sent to Brussels.
The Georgian people should decide whether they want membership in the European family, Gigi Ugulava, an oppositional politician, has stated at the rally.
"The issue is this: either we are really moving towards Europe, or we stay in the same place, or will we again find ourselves in the Russian orbit – the answer depends on the society," the "InterPressNews" has quoted Mr Ugulava as stating.
