Georgian govt announces deal with "Borjomi" shares

The Georgian government will become a co-owner of the "Borjomi" Company, after which the problems of company's employees will be solved, Irakli Garibashvili, the country's Prime Minister, has announced.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 31, workers of two mineral water bottling factories located in the town of Borjomi went on strike. They demanded to punish those responsible for blackmail, pressure and threats against workers, improve working conditions and reinstate their dismissed colleagues.

The state will become a shareholder of the "Borjomi" factories, Irakli Garibashvili, the Premier, has stated. "The Ministry of Economy has practically completed negotiations on 'Borjomi'. In a week, we'll raise this issue at a government sitting. The state will become a shareholder and co-owner of 'Borjomi', and this problem will be resolved," Mr Garibashvili's words are quoted on the website of the Georgian government today.

Employees of the Labour Inspectorate have already left for Borjomi to investigate the violations, the Premier has informed. "Not a single one of our citizens will be offended; and we'll treat everyone fairly. Everything will be decided as it should be," Irakli Garibashvili has commented on strikers' demands, the TASS has quoted him as saying.
