Dagestani woman seeks to punish culprits of her son's death for almost eight years
According to investigators, Vali, a son of Gulnara Bagaudinova, a resident of Makhachkala, was killed at his attack on law enforcers. However, Gulnara is sure that her son had been detained for wearing a beard, beaten up to death; and then an attack on law enforcers was staged.
According to investigators, on November 1, 2014, in Buynaksk, Vali Bagaudinov opened fire on law enforcers who asked him to show documents. He was killed by return fire.
The "Daptar" portal reports that Vali was Gulnara's only son. In Makhachkala, he worked as a taxi driver, but there was not enough money to maintain his wife and child. In 2010, Vali got a job of a guide in Dubai, where he later planned to move his family. In Dubai, he grew his beard, as it is not customary to attend a mosque there without it.
According to Gulnara, she asked her son to shave off his beard, since in Dagestan at that time all men with beards were called terrorists; and it was dangerous to walk therewith around in the republic. However, Vali refused.
The mother believes that her son was brought to a division of some power structure, interrogated about his ties with terrorists, and then tortured. Then, trying to hide the traces of their crime, they put him dead into a car and staged an attack – they shelled the car, and fired 17 bullets into Vali's body.
Almost eight years have passed since Vali's death, and Gulnara Bagaudinova is still trying to achieve justice.
She said that after her son's death, she underwent two more surgeries; she often has nervous breakdowns; and she hardly walks. She was left alone, without help; her neighbours help her buy foodstuffs.
