European Court accepts complaints of two Azerbaijani oppositionists

The European Court has accepted for proceedings a complaint filed by Arifa Gadzhily, head of the central executive office of the "Musavat" Party. It is expected that the complaint will be considered this autumn.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent learnt about it from Mr Gadzhily himself. We note here that earlier the European Court has accepted the complaint of Panakh Gusein, deputy of Azerbaijani Parliament.

Both applicants demand from the Azerbaijani Government to compensate the moral damage caused to them during their arrest after the events of October 15-16, 2003.

We remind you that under a similar suit Sardar Dzhalaloglu, Chairman of the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan, has already adjudged 10,000 euros from the Government.

Currently, there are two other Dzhalaloglu's suits against the Azerbaijani Government in the European Court. One refers violations of his rights during the 2005 parliamentary elections, and the other - his illegal arrest in October 2003.
