Native of Chechnya complains about pressure in colony

Timur Tangiev, a native of Chechnya, who was sentenced to 24 years in prison, has complained of pressure from the colony administration for refusal to obey to unreasonable, as he believes, instructions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 5, 2004, Tangiev was sentenced to 24 years for committing grave and especially grave crimes, including under articles on law enforcers' murder and attempted murder. The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) found that Tangiev, while in custody, was exposed to the treatment equated to torture.

In his video appeal, Timur Tangiev stated about the torture applied to the convicts serving their sentences in the colonies of Udmurtia. According to his story, in one of the colonies in recent years, three convicts were driven to suicide, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project reports.

According to the Telegram channel "Niyso", which is oppositional to Chechen authorities, "there is a high probability that Tangiev will be killed in colony; and the video was recorded by him as a sort of security in case he is killed."
