Prosecutor asks 2.5 years in prison for Diana Tsipinova, KBR lawyer

The state prosecutor has asked the court to sentence Diana Tsipinova, a lawyer and a figurant in the case about violence against a policeman in Nartkala, to 2.5 years in prison. The suffered policeman himself treats the punishment as excessive; and Tsipinova's advocate has recalled that she was detained when she was defending her colleague.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 23, 2023, the court sentenced Ratmir Zhilokov, a lawyer from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), to 1.5 years in colony, finding him guilty of assaulting a policeman.

Ratmir Zhilokov was detained on May 20, 2020, in the city of Nartkala (the capital of the KBR's Urvansky District). According to investigators, he behaved rudely with policemen and used physical violence against one of them, trying to prevent them from entering the facility, where gambling activities were allegedly on. Three colleagues volunteered to provide legal assistance to Ratmir, including Diana Tsipinova. They were not allowed to visit him; law enforcers did not like that they were being filmed; and they "twisted the lawyers and drove them out of the building." The lawyers registered the beatings and appealed to the investigating authorities.

Timur Nagoev, the victim, said that the lawyer (Diana Tsipinova), in his opinion, was guilty of an offence, but the asked real punishment was inappropriate.
