Stavropol Territory: contract soldier sentenced to six years for service evasion
The Stavropol Territorial Military Court has sentenced a contract soldier to six years in colony, finding him guilty of leaving his military unit without permission.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 24, 2022, after the announcement of the partial mobilization, a part of the article on unauthorized abandonment of a unit or place of service for more than a month during mobilization was added to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. It provides for five to ten years of freedom deprivation. On July 4, the Novorossiysk Military Court sentenced Alexander Shupletsov, a mobilized person, to six years in colony after finding him guilty under this part of the article.
The Stavropol Garrison Military Court has found Anatoly Ponomarenko guilty of leaving his military unit without permission during the mobilization and sentenced him to six years of freedom deprivation, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project has reported.
Ponomarenko was found guilty of being absent from his service without good reason for less than 10 days, more than 10 days and more than a month, the court's website informs.
