Musaeva’s son complains about obstacles to correspondence with his mother

Zarema Musaeva did not respond to four letters, and her son attributes the delay to censorship. The law does not provide for restrictions on sending and receiving letters, but if a person is being kept in a punishment cell, he or she may be deprived of the right to correspond with people, notes lawyer Abusupyan Gaitaev.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on July 4, the court sentenced Zarema Musaeva to five years and six months of imprisonment in the case on assaulting a policeman. Zarema Musaeva says that she hopes for the Supreme Court of Russia.

Lawyer Abubakar Yangulbaev, a son of Zarema Musaeva, is probably unable to send or receive letters now. He wrote letters to his mother on various topics.

According to Abubakar Yangulbaev, the problem is in the strengthening of state pressure.

There are no legal grounds for the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) to deprive a person of the right to correspond with people, believes lawyer Abusupyan Gaitaev. There may be exceptions if a prisoner is being kept in a punishment cell. “In such a case, warders do not deliver and do not take away prisoner’s letters for the period of this punishment,” stated Abusupyan Gaitaev.

On July 16, lawyer Alexander Savin reported that the health state of the Judge Yangulbaev’s wife has deteriorated significantly in the SIZO (pre-trial prison).
