Zarema Musaeva returned to SIZO after hospital treatment
Zarema Musaeva underwent two weeks of medical treatment and examination in a Grozny hospital, after which she was returned to a SIZO (pre-trial prison), the “Team Against Torture”* reports. In a letter to her son, Zarema Musaeva wrote that her health state improved significantly, and doctors prescribed a surgery.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on July 4, in Grozny, a court sentenced Zarema Musaeva to five years and six months of imprisonment in the case on assaulting a policeman. The defenders intend to file an appeal against the verdict, as they considered it ungrounded. In July, the defence announced that the health state of Zarema Musaeva was deteriorating and demanded a full medical examination.
Zarema Musaeva underwent medical treatment in the hospital, after which she was returned to the SIZO in Grozny, the “Team Against Torture” reported. Zarema Musaeva managed to get her sent for inpatient treatment, reported advocate Alexander Savin.
On his Telegram channel, Abubakar Yangulbaev, a son of Zarema Musaeva, reported that he received a letter from his mother, in which she mentioned the medical treatment.
Earlier, Abubakar Yangulbaev has not received a response to his four letters addressed to his mother Zarema Musaeva. He attributed the absence of the mother’s response to censorship. The law does not provide for restrictions on sending and receiving letters, but if a person is being kept in a punishment cell, he or she may be deprived of the right to correspond with people, notes lawyer Abusupyan Gaitaev.
*The “Team against Torture” (formerly the “Committee against Torture” – CaT) was created by the lawyers who had earlier worked for the CaT, which was included into the register of the NCOs performing the functions of foreign agents.
