Blogger Alibekov released from Kuban penal colony
Askhabali Alibekov, a video blogger, has been released in Apsheronsk after serving his sentence awarded for discrediting the Russian Army.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 23, 2023, a court in Novorossiysk sentenced Askhabali (also referred to as Askhab) Alibekov to a year and two months of freedom deprivation, recognizing that the video clip posted in his YouTube channel "Wild Paratrooper" was discrediting the Russian Army. The Krasnodar Territorial Court upheld the verdict.
On September 29, 2022, the freedom restriction measure for the 51-year-old Alibekov was changed from the recognizance not to leave to custody. Investigators achieved his arrest after Alibekov refused to wear an electronic tracking bracelet.
"The release of the 'Wild Paratrooper' was not without police's surprises. The Alibekov's car was stopped by policemen to check his documents," the Telegram channel "Kuban Anti-War Committee" has reported.
Let us remind you that in May 2022, Alibekov was found guilty under the article of discrediting militaries. Another report on discrediting militaries was drawn up against him on June 8, 2022, after the blogger posted a video with a pacifist appeal on the Internet.
On November 2, 2022, the human rights project "Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial" recognized Alibekov as a political prisoner.
