In Chechnya, court denies CER for Zarema Musaeva

The Shali City Court has refused to grant conditional early relief to Zarema Musaeva, her advocate Alexander Savin reports.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that at a court hearing in Chechnya held on December 11, the defence voiced arguments for the conditional early relief (CER) of Zarema Musaeva.

On December 5, the administration of the penal colony in Argun, where Zarema Musaeva is serving her sentence, opposed her release. The penal colony administration has claimed that Zarema Musaeva is been kept in the penitentiary institution for a short time and has not admitted her guilt.

Let us remind you that on July 4, the court sentenced Zarema Musaeva to 5.5 years of imprisonment in a case on an attack on a policeman. On September 12, the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya reduced the sentence to five years of imprisonment.

Human rights defenders believed that Zarema Musaeva has a chance for CER, but the decision depends on the authorities of Chechnya.
