In Makhachkala, picketer stands in support of Palestinians

Journalist Idris Yusupov* held a solo picket in Makhachkala in solidarity with the people of Palestine. Journalist Magomed Magomedov held at the same place a picket in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, and his protest action caused a lively reaction from passers-by.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev consider his criminal case to be political persecution and regularly hold solo pickets in his support.

Passers-by took photographs of the picketer and asked Magomed Magomedov questions, says a friend of Abdulmumin Gadjiev.

At the same place, Idris Yusupov*, a journalist of the “Novoye Delo” (New Clause), held a solo protest, the Dagestani weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft) reported in its Telegram channel.

“The purpose of the picket held by journalist Idris Yusupov (recognized by the Russian Ministry of Justice as a foreign agent, but challenges the status) is to draw the attention of the world community and the media to the situation of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, to protect civilians from actual genocide,” the report states.

On December 25, after his solo picket in support of the Palestinians, Idris Yusupov* noted that passers-by and drivers reacted less actively to his action than before.

It should be noted that forced migrants from Palestine also arrived in Ingushetia, Chechnya, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, and the Krasnodar Territory. In Nalchik, refugees faced a lack of job offers and a shortage of cash.

*On November 24, 2023, the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) included Idris Yusupov into the register of foreign agents. The journalist filed an appeal against the MoJ’s decision.
