Blogger Alibekov arrested for attacking law enforcer

A court in Kazan has ruled to arrest for two months Askhabali Alibekov, a native of Dagestan and a blogger, who was detained on suspicion of using violence against a policeman. Before being sent to the SIZO (pre-trial prison), he stated that he had no money for an advocate.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Askhabali Alibekov, the author of the YouTube channel "Wild Paratrooper" who is serving his arrest in Kazan, became a suspect in a criminal case of using violence against a policeman. According to investigators, during his detention, Alibekov struck the policeman twice in the leg.

On February 20, it became known that law enforcers had detained Alibekov at the Kazan railway station, removing him from the train. According to the police, they invited Alibekov to go to the police station to draw up a protocol under the article on discrediting the Russian Army, but he refused. According to the blogger, they immediately started beating him up. On the same day, the court arrested Askhabali Alibekov for 15 days, finding him guilty of disobeying law enforcers.

The Vakhitovsky District Court of Kazan has sent Askhabali Alibekov to the SIZO for two months within the case of attacking a policeman, the "Sota" outlet reports in its Telegram channel.

In a video appeal to his subscribers, Alibekov asked for help in hiring an advocate.

On November 2, 2022, human rights defenders declared Alibekov as a political prisoner and demanded that his criminal prosecution be stopped.
