Advocate criticized expertise outcomes in murder of 19-year-old teen in Dagestan
The expert had based her conclusions about the nature of the wounds inflicted on Magomed-Ali Sultanov, 19, a resident of the Dagestani city of Kayakent, on the data of her colleague, who had left Dagestan and could not be questioned, Ilyas Saidov, an advocate, has informed. According to his version, this calls into question the expertise legality.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that that the case of Sultanov's murder was considered by the court since the summer of 2023, but there is only one accused person. The defence demands that two more participants in the brawl be brought to justice and the charge be reclassified to consider the crime as a murder committed by prior conspiracy. An independent expertise has confirmed that more than one person took part in the murder, but two accomplices figure in the case only as witnesses.
The father of the murdered boy has told about pressure from law enforcers, who fear new unrests in the village caused by investigators' and trial injustice.
At the April 1 court session on Sultanov's murder case, the interrogation of the expert who had signed the death conclusion continued, Ilyas Saidov, an advocate, has informed, asking the court to allow him to present several blades with similar parameters for comparison with the knife that should have been kept in the case documents as the proof of the murder, since the expert has failed to explain why she decided that there was only one murder weapon.
Earlier, one of Kayakent residents said that Magomed-Ali Sultanov was in good standing among his family and friends. According to the source, relatives of the attackers tried to bribe the parents of the casualty's friend so that he would not identify anyone.
