Rights defender Nagavkin achieves prosecutor's visit to SIZO

Igor Nagavkin, a human rights defender, convicted within a theft case, has achieved a visit of a prosecutor's office employee and members of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) to the SIZO (pre-trial prison) of the city of Leninsk, where Igor is kept. He demanded that they accept detainees' complaints about poor custody conditions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the theft case against Nagavkin has again been sent for consideration. He hopes to have the verdict overturned.

On April 8, a prosecutor's office employee came to Nagavkin's cell. Two days later, he was visited by members of the local POC, the "SOTAvision" Telegram channel has informed with reference to Natalia Shishlina, Igor Nagavkin's sister.

Nagavkin demanded that the complaint about the poor custody in SIZO cells be accepted. According to detainees, the cell walls and ceilings are infected with fungus, there is no ventilation, water taps are rusty, and there is no heating.

Igor Nagavkin has been seeking a meeting with the prosecutor for a month and was on a hunger strike for more than two weeks. After he was notified of the upcoming prosecutor's visit, he stopped his protest action.
