Returning to homeland turns for Chechen native into criminal case

Ramzan Miriskaev, a native of Chechnya, who came to his homeland from Austria, has been arrested in Grozny on the charges of illegal trafficking in firearms and ammunition.

The FSB Department for Chechnya has instituted a criminal case against Ramzan Miriskaev, who has Russian and Austrian citizenships. The above has been reported by Chechen historian and journalist Mairbek Vachagaev* reported in his Telegram channel “Mairbek/Chechen/France”.

In his complaint, an advocate of Ramzan Miriskaev claimed that his client’s arrest had been extended “without evidence of grounds for his detention” and requested court to transfer Ramzan Miriskaev under house arrest in the village of Martan-Chu in the Urus-Martan District.

In turn, an investigator noted that Ramzan Miriskaev did not have a permanent place of residence and work in Chechnya, that he was “a citizen of the Republic of Austria and lived there.”
