Volgograd lawyer complains to PO about investigators' inaction

Ruslan Nurushev, the lawyer, whose personal data were disclosed on the TV, has filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office (PO) against investigators. He claimed their inaction of not reacting to citizens' illegal shadowing while laying flowers in memory of Alexei Navalny.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Volgograd residents, whose personal data were disclosed on air of the "Volgograd-1" TV channel, had lodged complaints with law enforcement bodies. Their lawyers pointed to signs of criminal offenses in the actions of journalists who, under the guise of a journalistic investigation, had revealed the names and workplaces of the townspeople who came with flowers to the monument to victims of political repressions after Navalny's death.

Ruslan Nurushev has stated that on April 5 he filed a statement of crime with the Investigating Committee (IC) of the Volgograd Region – claiming his secret shadowing and disclosing his personal data and the facts of his private life on the above TV channel.

Nurushev has raised the issue of "violating one's privacy," which is a criminal offense according to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. "However, for some reason the IC had avoided a criminal legal assessment of these facts," he was indignant.

He asked the PO to treat the IC's inaction as illegal when considering his complaint, since no check was conducted; and this is contrary to the law.
